Mr. Lau, and his father were both students of Wong Yook Gong. Mr. Lau's postures often did not fit the standard of Kwongsai Mantis and were deemed eclectic and incorrect, although his slim and wiry frame showed a great deal of spring power.
The squatting postures of Mr. Lau do not reflect Som Dot's teaching, although, Mr. Lau performed skillfully. All other Sifu agreed, without a standard the root will disappear, without a root the art cannot blossom.
